Abstract:

FRIB (the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams) is under active construction at Michigan State University, which is funded by the Department of Energy, Michigan State University, and the State of Michigan. Here we will introduce the overview about FRIB project, its scientific goals, the challenges on its accelerator side.

C.V.:

Guobao Shen is currently serving as High Level Controls Group Leader for the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) project, which is under construction at the Michigan State University funded by the US Department of Energy. Prior to joining the FRIB project, He worked at the Brookhaven National Laboratory as technology architect, where he led the development of physics application and middle layer services for the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II). Before that, He worked at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) thru its construction to commissioning, and at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF).
